Things I Think I Don't Need, But I Really Do . . .
Pages 6 & 7 of your Explore Guide say it all: "Pack the following items as indicated".
What does this mean? It means that eventhough you might see something on the list you think you don't need, you do! Please ponder these items, won't you?

- anti-diarrhea medication - now just because you've never had this problem before . . . with the flight, curvy mountain roads on a bus, strange food and nerves, you'll want this stuff if you "have an episode" so pack it! You may be sick when we are nowhere near a store. If you already have it with you, that's half the battle!
- empty gallon/qt sized resealable bags - you can organize your souvenirs orut wet clothes in your bag if they aren't dry enough to pack. If you get sick at your stomach, you have one ready to go.
- heavy-weight synthetic athletic socks for hiking - take care of your feet on this program, keep them happy and we'll all be happy
- change of clothing in your carry-on - we don't anticipate lost baggage, but wouldn't you rather be prepared?
- sunglasses - hello!
- blister kit
- cold/flu medication - even if you're not sick when you leave, you may catch something while you're there
- hand sanitizer
- two water bottles - we will take part in an incredibly beautiful and spectacular all-day hike. You'll need to have enough water to last the entire day. Two water bottles are a necessity.
- Sleeping pad for under your sleeping bag - you'll need to protect yourself from hypothermia from laying directly on the ground. Plus, it's a lot more comfortable!
- Label my name on EVERYTHING - Please use your first name and last initial. The other students probably will only know you by your first name, so using your last name is not helpful. Things not always labeled that should be . . . cameras, backpacks, beach towels, jackets and sweatshirts, water bottles, ball caps. Bring along a Sharpie marker!
